Business Support Opportunity

South Ribble Community Leisure Limited is a Non Profit Distributing Organisation (NPDO) and was incorporated on 17th March 2005 (Company no: 05396330).

In April 2005 South Ribble Community Leisure Limited (SRCL) were appointed by South Ribble Borough Council to manage the six public leisure facilities within the Borough, on the 31st May 2005 SRCL formally appointed Serco Leisure Operating Limited as their managing agent to operate the facilities.

This new era for Sport and Active Leisure in South Ribble commenced on 1st June 2005, the commencement of the partnership has allowed for significant investments and improvements to the facilities to date and further significant investment is planned for the future.

SRCL have responsibility for running and developing the leisure facilities in partnership with their operating partner Serco Leisure. We are actively seeking an individual with the right skills and commitment to join the company to provide business support. You will be responsible for undertaking financial procedures as required and directed by the board, preparing quarterly financial reports for SRCL Board Meetings, receiving and completing quarterly VAT returns (in liaison with Serco), completing online SRCL’s Company Annual Return, filing of SRCL’s abbreviated accounts, facilitate the SRCL Audit process in liaison with an appointed Board Member and undertake any other relevant tasks as requested by SRCL Board.

We are seeking to employ an effective individual, in terms of skills and attributes, and would particularly welcome applicants with a background in financial management or business management.

Board Members

Would you like to work with children and young people?  Can you spare a few hours a week to help make a difference? Would you like to gain new qualifications and experience?  Why not become a volunteer?   We are currently looking for volunteers from all backgrounds with all types of experience.

Modern Apprenticeship Scheme

This is a great opportunity to work in coaching whilst learning new skills. A pathway led apprenticeship enables you to become a leisure professional.  We will support you in to achieving an NVQ level 2 and you will be required to complete the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification.

Duty Manager

The duty manager is responsible for the day to day management of the leisure centre, the supervision of staff and health and safety.  We are looking for a real people person with excellent customer care skills, problem solving and time management skills.  The applicant must be able to work on their own initiative and as part of a team.


The lifeguard is responsible for supervising the swimming pools, cleaning and the setting up and dismantling of equipment.  Applicants must hold a current National Pool Lifeguard Qualification and possess good communication skills.

Swimming Instructor

Swimming instructors are responsible for teaching the H2O Swim Life swimming lesson scheme to children and adults of all ages and abilities.  Applicants must hold a Level 2 Full Teachers qualification and current National Pool Lifeguard Qualification.


Receptionists are responsible for taking payments and bookings and providing information to customers both in the centre and over the telephone.  Applicants must have excellent customer care skills, a good telephone manner and pleasant personality
